| "Ground rules" for background music
Question of Tholi: Dezember 2009
Hello film experts, I now have several private videos (mostly nature and wildlife photography or not), but I am with the background music is not really satisfied. I had from my CD collection now here, now there was herauskopiert, and s.end it was possible, a colorful mix of everything. While it is fit for the individual scenes, but it was a body of work does not stop. My question: is there such a thing as "ground rules" for how to use music? Where can I take a look there? It is wiegesagt purely private use, not public or what's network. Schonmal and a nice thank Nicholas Thomas

Hello Thomas,
ichauch had the same problem - or not -. Mostly I leave, travel or family shots, nature shots, but synonymous. All purely private flat. Now for Music: Vocal recordings are often dominated by the images, especially if they are too long or too loud. In general, I find that the volume should be up too high, because especially in the film is indeed the natural background noise is an essential difference to Stillimage. So I opted for mostly instrumental music. Here, I'll take me a theme for each film, for example, a composer, a particular CD or LP. Nor do I inferior party to the entire movie with the music, but only where it seems appropriate. The individual songs are then played out is not always in full length, but only brief highlights of it. (Have I listened to the professionals of the film.) This has a big impact on the mood, then afterwards when viewing results. Some films are so interesting only by the background music. Because my films purely private use, I pay attention synonymous only to my taste. Rights are not violated even synonymous. In any case, it is next to the film processing represent a very important step, for not without reason that the film companies employ artworks specially trained staff.
I hope you can help a little.

No singing, I would emphasize synonymous! Because it is then more inclined to follow the text.
I have been Music "used brute force" to create a certain mood, which was primarily in the pictures at all.
In your case I would look at my pictures and me be clear about what effect / Emotinen it generates. And then look for music, which is roughly in the same direction.
How about with classical symphonies??

I've never even used it while Eric Satie, but seems to be very popular among professionals. One hears constantly on TV, not intrusive and still refined.

Also, I often long search for the right music. Although there are three to four pieces that I use constantly for years, because the publisher gets more already have a laughing fit, but it once it's "what else should be," then I turn on the search and the various Durchhören CDs quite a bit s . time. It is important that the music always "appropriate" must be, and that's not a question of taste, but because qualified people will come in most cases to very similar results.
Music for film is designed to support certain moods without becoming too dominant to be. This means that such documents should already have a degree of musical independence, not just too much. Since synonymous may be a tune in there, but very cautious. For where s.sich at Music is the melody voice, the film will often be the Kommentarton. That does not even bite.
If you then have found a suitable piece, then it can hear you just s.and check where musical inflection points, respectively, where to start and stop certain characters. Then there are exactly the points where you can expose the film one-and. So if there is a change in the Picture, then it should be synonymous in the music a turn. You can dominate on O-tones and Atmos synonymous Music go unnoticed or reassess, and then s.end for example, the film exactly synonymous with the music to end, sowas is always very effective.
As for the Aussteuerungsrichtlinien: O sounds and language go so often as possible to 0 dB, but never over it. Music should go up to -5 dB, but only where no Language is, of course, usually much less. Atmos will be admixed as needed, but only so loudly that everything is nicely balanced.
Good luck!

I won because there is synonymous beautiful arrangements for filming. Goes with many things well. But beware: The protection of s.Originalwerken Satie has expired and newer treatments are of course safe hands. So if you want to save money, sits down at the piano and makes even draus.
