16:9 Wer kennt sich aus?

16:9 Who knows from?

Frage von pion:
Februar 2007

Hello,
I plan to create a documentary, in the s.Ende projected to be 16:9.
I film with the Panasonic DVX 100 AU and cut on Premiere Pro 1.5.
I will archive material in 4:3, of course, photos and new material installed. Is it advisable now erstmal everything in 4:3 to rotate and s.Ende convert? Or should I use the new material in a 16:9 twist. (Letterbox or squeeze?)
In the foreground is the image quality, since the film for the cinema format should be.
About tips, I am glad!
Greeting Pion

Please do not shoot in 4:3 and even less letterbox, 16:9 afterwards if you want. the panasonic has NEN true 16:9 mode. filme so afterwards and cut all synonymous in the same format and enter the final of 16:9. it works fine.

Another addition to the 4x3-archive material.
You can be guided, as the channel for current 16x9-Docus make:

The Öfftl-Terms. blow the material to 133.3%, so that it fills entire image width. Above and below is a lot of image information flutes.

The BBC often uses a kind of compromise. You blow the picture also, but only to the extent that the Title Safe Area remains fully visible. This results in left and right narrow black stripes, but the top and bottom is not so much of the picture cut off.

And then you see sometimes synonymous nor totally "professional" version: it will be a 4x3 picture in the timeline by simply "interpret footage" to 1.44 in the Width withdrawn. Cars are then seeeehr wide, faces, too. This can be seen then that a Beginners s.NLE sat ;-)).

Try out what you like better - and what your archive material is better to face.
Gruss Wiro

Images in 16:9 see how silly some of. @ Mark how much camera men and sound engineers to fit into your 16:9 smart?
More info on the 4:3 and 16:9, there are things in the digital video asset.

The DVX 100 AU? Sure?

Antwort von TheBubble:

For the sake of completeness:

There is the possibility of such a 4:3 picture in the 16:9 aspect ratio to stretch so that the mean areas remain almost undistorted, the edges but more in width should be considered.

Antwort von Jan:

So the old DVX 100 (A) according to my info cheap letterbox or squeeze (like always synonymous words) - totally distorted - 16 / 9 mode. Only s.der (BE) gibts Advanced - anamorph.

Whether they Squezze - it is a serious word! - I can not 100% synonymous say, I know the DVX 100 AU Letterbox 16 / 9 makes possible a 16 / 9 edition with P. ...... selectable via menu.

Is a very long time since I've seen the model. Some nice DVX owners will have already reported. The p. ..... Variant but extremely stretched out, barely usable I think.

Hello, would recommend to all cases in 16:9 (anamorphic) recorded.
With a cutting system (zBPremiere / Matrox) is synonymous after recording a turnaround in 4:3 letterbox or PanScan possible. Conversely, a conversion of 4:3 to 16:9 with only the visible resolution losses possible.
Photos or documents can be scanned very well and then in excellent quality also has an editing program to convert any formats and animate synonymous (panning, zooming)

Antwort von Jan:

Yes as far as I know, the model only the maximum of the letterbox or squeeze mode, but does not equate with the material is anamorphic. None has a DVX 100 (AE)?
