Film is in 16:9 before. Timeline is synonymous appr set. However, the camcorder the material only in 4:3, the 'output on tape "as synonymous live output via firewire to. This means that the 16:9 to the top and bottom is warped. When you create a DVD disc or output file in there no problems with the aspect ratio.

Basically, it is not bad, if the picture on MiniDV extended 4:3 looks like, because only the pixel aspect ratio is different, but not the actual image content. When you have to re-capture the editing program will only say that it is 16:9 recordings.
Nevertheless, it would be of course nice if videos directly in the correct aspect ratio on tape could be played off.
