Have an old Hi8 camera. I used the recording time cut on video. Now, the videos no longer work properly (while others trace of the former recording device). So - regardless of Hi8 digitize the recordings of hard disk recorder. And I realized that there are too s.and stripes on the recordings. Since this is not s.feste bodies were bound, I thought that it must lie well s.der Camera. That's why I bought me a dry cleaning tape of Hama and use it according to instructions (; there is really inside that one, the tape will run until the end and then rewind. So it would be to use x to 30. Honest!) . So 1x tape to go through, rewound, normal loaded Hi8 cassette: Sound OK, Picture only black and white, flickering stripes, sometimes synonymous more green-purple-black color mixture. From Originlabild no trace. Other Tape tried, same result. Do I have the camera now completely destroyed??

Hello, certainly not complete, but the possibility that the head drum has suffered, is not unlikely. Of so-called cleaning tape is always advisable, since they only run dry rub, and maybe even more small particles and thus produce an opposite effect. The camera would be sorted out, I may, on E-Bay or so a good second-hand buy, import the old tapes, digitize, and then let stand for the bands. So you're safe on the page. Head drums should be wet cleaned synonymous and that only very careful because this is a delicate matter.

When used appropriately, cleaning cartridges are absolutely justified, especially occur if the road issues and we have no chance of a more complex clean-up. Moreover, there would be just for the Hi8 format, which is at issue here, even of Hama is also a cleaning tape, cleans the use of a liquid - that is not dry.
