Bloody Beginners need help

Question of StefanKoeln:
April 2006

Hello everybody!

Even if I do not specifically want to capture movie turned to DVD, I do have some similar problems and hope that I can help here, because I think my questions have been synonymous for many Heimfilmern ...

I would like to move into the future primarily premiere or series of photographs of old VHS to my PC and burn to DVD. I have risen to the Terratec stick 'Cinergy Hybrid T USB XS' because I could work flexible s.mehreren computers.

Now my major issues which I hope that one of you has the patience to help me:
1. Of course, I'd like to keep a pretty good picture & sound quality of the individual series episodes / movies, but still about 4-5 45-minute episodes, or about 180-215 minutes, get a 4.7 GB DVD. What bit rate, resolution, compression, etc. should I use when loading the film material. What values are generally good for capturing when analog TV material draws on the calculator and want to have as little quality loss?
2. I have read the works of the net that there are different codecs, with whom one can compress the data when Catureing, but I'm still confused, what should I use to get in a raffle to DVD sound quality.
3. In my first attempts (codec was huffyuv if I had not mistaken) a series episode, a size of about 16GB, which is really quite a lot, right? What can I do to make the episodes have a suitable size so that at least 4 fit on a blank disc?
4. Is there any good software that you can recommend to load an external source of material on the calculator too? Which program would you create and burning of DVDs include special menus with background images and sounds created recommend?

I hope you can help me on the steps ...
Oh yes, and all HAPPY EASTER!

That you had synonymous with a real solution, namely a transformer, which outputs via Firewire DV, unless no calculator has a Firewire Anlschluß. But you can upgrade for the small Money (desktop) or only slightly greater Money (notebook).

I want to start a Formula 1 race, but can transport 50 people synonymous with my bus, and when I race nichtgewinne synonymous with my coach, I would not still be last.

That's impossible. Since you will not help synonymous special fuel for racing moving buses.
