Frage von kermitd:Although I doubt anyone in this world can answer my question, I try it a try.
First of the hardware setup:
An Apple Raid, the s.einem PowerMac G5 (OS X is 10.4). This is on a gigabit network with a PC (XP connected to 64).
Now the problem:
When I click on the PC After Effects and then start a project working with Quicktime files that are on the raid, they have an extremely slow access. Other files that are also on the same raid (tif, avi, mpg) can be processed quickly furious. It even goes so far that if I can be a project with many mov files open schonmal it take a couple of minutes until everything has loaded. I open the same but from another Mac Project of the Network, it is again rapidly.
So I suspect that something stupid with the Quicktime files hires before you can access on it. Something that lasts forever.
Has anyone any idea how can I speed up QuickTime in After Effects on a PC?
If you're wondering why this is on the Mac, which administers the raid still 10.4 on it, just believe me, that makes 10.5 more problems, since this file shares in connection with Quicktime is almost impossible because it always comes with Quicktime Error 43, stating that he did not find the file, because nen umlaut is inside or just the path is too long.
Whether the problem with 10.6 away I would not know it because you need an Intel Mac, which I have not.

Has anyone any idea how can I speed up QuickTime in After Effects on a PC? This has no doubt so relatively little to do. The Stinker is the case with 99% probability of the Mac. Presumably the files are constantly being indexed or of other monitoring programs. The most obvious, therefore, switch off -> Spotlight and the whole mess.
