| Dropouts with the time

Hello,
I've recently a strange problem that I have not seen such before. I have an external hard drive on which I have stored some of my movie as a DV-Avis. The image quality of the films was in the Export 100% OK. The external panel has now been seen as some operating systems, cut version of the program and probably synonymous codecs, but is physically quite OK, with no CRC errors, no broken sectors have, etc. Almost all of these movies, but suddenly dropouts that look just like DV tape dropouts . Since I have not played out in the meantime or digitized irritates me something ... What may experience this problem?
The same has happened to me with a movie, which I had last week with a new camera rotated, cutting the original files are OK (but the exported DV Film synonymous, the problem affects other codecs: MPEG2, DIVx) gets a sudden failure. I am sure that these are not just Gafikkartenfehler as synonymous with the processing of the files as DV to MPEG2 or XVid remain the dropouts ...
This fact worries me a bit because I actually assumed that a long-term backup is on a hard drive is the safest method for preserving the full quality ...

I recently had a similar problem, but then again have just rewound a piece, and then threw back okay .. (the new file) ... for me it was mpeg2
Unfortunately, I do not synonymous know what the reason was .. :-(

I once had sowas identified as synonymous with a DV AVI and MPEG2:

The video was more than 6 months on a hard drive, which otherwise was perfectly OK. Obviously you have to "archival material" s.and to time data copy. Perhaps it is related with the defragmentation.

I back up for about one and a half years DV-AVI, MPEG 2 - and project data on external hard disks. These are described in general but only once and then (if needed) is always read only. The above image errors, I could not observe so far.
Was the relevant video file of a connected external hard drive had been misrepresented? If the data rate short (eg, breaks with USB 2.0 or / and) severe fragmentation, then the error is the software player, the data may no longer be completely reconstructed and it comes to classic drop-outs. In this case, the observed image errors should not be reproducible.

I just see the logo on the SAT1 Picture. Are you 100% sure that it still onwar directly after saving to the hard drive. Looks as if the digital receiver just had no signal. Dropouts are only little stuttering in the picture where the entire picture once exposed. Or not?

If you umkopierst the file on another hard drive ne, is the error then?

Start> Control Panel> System> Hardware tab> Device Manager> Disk Drives> concerned with hard drive right click the mouse select> Properties s.besten optimize> Policies tab> Power to select> OK> Computers New Start

So at least for me the problem is reproducible and is not s.der at low data rate of the plate. The dropouts are always put s.der same. Like I said, the problem does not occur in the synonymous further example of the film DV -> Mpeg2, here is the data rate of the plate with which it is read so irrelevant. I have to try again on ne other disk copy, but I'm pretty sure that it is not ...
A question of understanding: It can happen almost surely, that a hard drive with time, some data "forget" without an error about to spit, right? That would be the complete data integrity required for data such as in software, which consists of ...

Hi Till,
Calculator does not always equal to spew out an error message when having a defective hard drive storage units. Check the hard drive in question but at times hard-and software errors. You will find a suitable tool designed with Google, or perhaps you can call someone recommend a software /?

Although I have no clue _wodurch_ exactly the error occurs, faking, however, according to my new findings which the files are still OK and it therefore must be a codec error - and I have a solution!
Maybe someone can start to explain to me what's going internal to Windows, if an. Avi file opens ... Of each player chooses Guckt after FOURCC ID and then made their way to decode the image?
In any case I have with Avisynth rumexperimentiert in which one can explicitly announce that the movie about "Video for Windows" (AviSource = "test.avi") or DirectShow (DirectShow Source = "test.avi") will be displayed. The result was that show the DirectShow filter to play back DV material of the films WITHOUT DROPOUT!
To that extent one can write a wicked easy Avisynth File and film show and further processed correctly again. Helpful was synonymous while this program here, with which you can switch without rebooting the codec to be used for playing a particular Compression:

I do, however, the synonymous schonmal happened with Avid OMF video files. And the OMF codec has not guaranteed changed. It is possible, however, that perhaps what is with my hard drive, although I have noticed so far nothing is next.
