The problem of lower cost MD player, I see less losses in compression than in inferior Microphone preamps. The same MD recorder sound suddenly by two classes better if an external mic preamp or mixer is used and the recorder receives its signal via line. Moreover, one can then implement the necessary phantom power. (The MC930 can not even connect directly s.den MZ-RH10, because it offers only an asymmetric microphone input without phantom power.)

I am master for years on MiniDisc and ATRAC had no problems. These were times when we have in the versions 3 and such moves. Mixers and micros in front and it will work with the recording ...
