I think not. now wanted to reactivate an old project that I have about 4 years clean on an external hard disk and have now parked can be 2 / 3 of the quicktime files no longer open! finder tells me how big the files are, but preview does not work, quicktime refuses to his own files to open, even vlc fails.

Hmm, 4 years ago, it was not so uncommon, even under Mac OS Classic to work. Was that the case for you? Missing any of the affected files will be renamed?

Did you look at the files a different hard drive to copy?
Exceeding all non-working files is a certain file size, while the other possibly less of 2GB in size?
Were the files with Final Cut or iMovie captured?
I've now understood that you actually have to work under Classic. In that case you should maybe a trip into the past and dare to try, to the files of Classic from access.
Perhaps PowerMac later can help. I knew not much.
