| Optical Image Stabilization ...
Question of Caranta: August 2008
... I just wonder, do I need it or is really an electronic synonymous?
I am a grad all my ideas about important things a video camera to the sea, but I think they were wrong eh * wink *
Reply WoWu:
Whether you are in need or not, that only you can decide, but an electronic stability cost-Resolution Picture Quality, not a mechanical. Do you have a choice ... so then forget the electronic stability and chose the optical design.
Reply Caranta:
Surely I can not decide it, I already know.
I had just thought that the choice s.Kameras is larger, an electrically wennich. Stabilizer take - hence the idea.
Reply Markus73:
However, it must say that a lump sum verdict optical and electronical = good = bad "things synonymous only half true.
After what I've seen to date, Sony is building very good stabilizers (electronical) while I am in neither the Panasonic electronic version (which I myself possess, GS180), nor the visual variant really convinced.
For me, therefore, is usually: from stability and, if possible, use Tripod. Even a monopod results here very much.
And the loss of resolution electr. Stabilizer must be in order of magnitude that are not worth talking about are. I have in my GS180, despite some hard trials may not notice a difference.

This reminds me again s.die JVC HD 7 - with the optical stabilizer. It is simply - poor. JVC pushes the buck with this camera but Fujinon optics supplier to - because they have designed Optics ...
Sonybaut be quite convincing electronic stabilizers.
Tell us please, what cameras are available in the Choice.

Sigh, Jan .. I know never even * sigh * (see my thead "I'm confused")
Starting AHT's in the direction of Panasonic SDR-H40EG-S (or synonymous H50), or JVC Everio GZ-MG330 (or MG365), because I thought it must be "SD card or hard drive to. Meanwhile, I'm not convinced whether MiniDV is better for my purposes and so were the Panasonic NV-GS320EG-S or the Canon HV30 into the race, the latter to me too expensive.
The basic idea for me is to stop time, I need an optical Image Stabilization? Are there not other things that are important? So prefer a better resolution or HDV and in favor of the optical stabilizer renounce?
Anlachen me doing the course, synonymous of you recommended SonyHDR-HC5, but not at the current price - which would have been synonymous but actually "only" an electronic Image Stabilization.

So do not depend on it. To my knowledge there is Sonyin in this price class has no optical stabilizer (and at Panasonic are just a marketing gag, because they are not synonymous to work better than Sony's electronic).

Reply Caranta:
I'll just Sonymal in mind and hope that the price goes down again.
(but I am still propagated synonymous alternatives open and grateful)

Gude
Kuck times in your other thread And your question about short optical stabilizers addressed.

Optical stability
I take Him s.der Video and Image s.der Still Camera. Use only synonymous but Canon Lenses. Have moderately to quality "with stability" versus "without stability" no differences noted. (From Tripod made recordings)
Consider the optical system stability as Canon uses what may be seen as "very good" grade.
The target price but only Lenses may be used to get. But rarely.
