| Problem with HD / SD conversion
Question of Horace83: Februar 2011
Hi,
Following situation: I have a HDV output file (QuickTime mov) in 720p50 RVON a length 02:14. The whole is 317.1 MB which allowed me to be already suspicious. The data rate is 2.4 Mbps (!) Resolutionist 1280x720 and the codec is completely normal HDV.
I will convert the whole "easy" to SD, that is, Apple Quicktime Mov like normal 720x576 PAL blablabla. Do I attempt it synonymous (colors, fields - all ok), but unfortunately the clip is ALWAYS greater than the original HD. Think it's s.der low bit rate of the original, standard PAL is indeed with 30Mbit. Depending on what codec I use is the file either 1 GB (the largest, Apple ProRes was to receive the remains Anamorphic encoding) or 485 MB (export from a Final Cut Pro DV PAL timeline).
Unfortunately, the colleague has not screwed up the whole of the currently available and I just want to know if I'm wrong here just what it is or s.seinem export.
Regards Horace

Finishing is not my beer, so I overlook there perhaps a problem, but actually that sounds quite all right? Your output format is HDV1 with a standard data rate of approximately 19Mb / s. If you are in the DV-AVI with its standard data rate of 25Mb / s will walk, the file will necessarily be higher. And much bigger it is, of course, if you'd walk in ProRes, because behind it after all the purpose of such an intermediate codec is: to convert highly compressed material into a less compressed, but very easy for tapping format.

Thank you for the answer for now.
Yes, actually it's more of a "luxury" problem, because the end result is true. Just me, the low data rate of HDV clips insecure. 19.9 Mb / s would have the file so about 2.6 GB. But it is only 317 MB and I would like to convert from the original. The colleague had thought at first the whole compressed by H.264, a codec is, however, HDV displayed.

What an HDV codec?
Check the clip but sometimes with MediaInfo then know exactly what it is synonymous for a codec.

... At 19.9 Mb / s so the file would have about 2.6 GB. But it is only 317 MB ... Could it be that you are the difference MB / s to deceive Mb / s can? HDV1 a film of 2:14 length (= 134 seconds) shows 134 x 19 Mb = 2546 Mb and the equivalent of 8 Mb = 1 MB roughly 318 MB, 317 MB what your real close to it very much.

What is said to have screwed up the? HDV is MPEG 2, so that you can take synonymous for SD, and hey presto, the file size shrinks to one third. You have only one apple / pear problem.
