Question of Mercedes: Dezember 2005
Hello,
what is meant by "drop outs"? ug this is the problem?
I film with my Canon XL1s regularly without problems, but the last day of shooting some shots not on the tape! instead, the tape is black, said to appear 2 images simultaneously. As I said, only the first part of the recordings. it was used a new tape of fuji. it can be s.tape? my camera shows namely that will be included, I do not understand why it is a part of it on tape recordings. or can it be s.der Camera? it was very cold s.dem day, is as sensitive to the Canon?
I had a message that the heads should be cleaned. But the picture in the viewfinder was clear. I have been prudent to run a cleaning cartridge. it may be the problem but not yet, right? especially because only the first part of the recordings is gone.
Thank you, and Gruss,
Reply Stefan:
Dropouts are certain aberrations in the video.
They can occur for example, if the magnetic coating defect, if that has deposited on the tape or video head when the tape has statically charged ... For digital dropouts is often typical that one still sees a remnant of earlier recordings.
Very cold environments ready for the variety of problems film-makers. The Batteries give less juice. The plastic parts (rubber bands and tapes) are stiffer and therefore more susceptible to damage. The lubricant on the tape and disk in the camera are tougher. Especially condenses on metal and glass parts when moving into a warmer environment humidity ...
Because some things are about the same your problem.
Against a few things you can do something ... Carry close to the body wrap to keep warm Batteries, Camera when changing the environment in airtight bag, possibly with desiccant, tapes / Batteries / Camera in thermo. Camera insulate against heat loss as far as possible. tape few minutes s.Anfang run until the drive is ready.
The issue of cleaning cartridge has been discussed here several times.
Good luck The fat Stefan
