I have released a Stillimage a flame and placed them on a lighter. Now I would drüberlegen on this layer of the flame like an Effect. This effect is to distort the flame continuously so that it (almost) like a real, moving flame looks like.

Can a synonymous keyframe animated (yes, müüühsam!) Fractal fault lay on a layer and then take the layer as a distortion of the flame. But you do certainly synonymous with hard ...
Why do not you take just a real flame in front of a keyable background? Then you have no hard and actively create in AE, but can just let a movie run.

Of how you approach s.das awkward problem, it is a pretty useful approach.
But if one just putting a couple of keyframes too difficult, then perhaps you should better leave the fingers of special effects ... - Yes, synonymous in the computer age are not easy all the desired effects by one-click solution to reach mean, but - oh horror! - Work! If it were otherwise, there would be no excessive amount of effects houses, which do around the Clock nothing more than to miss by a hard, creative work (iiihhhh!) To shoot the certain something that all of the PC-Kids (without patient) manage just never be! ;-)

Ouch, Bjorn, did you really have the slightest idea what this is all müüühsam? Your (actually really nice) proposals need but certainly on average at least two clicks to x (Where x is a number greater than 2 YET! Yikes!), And to have Brain Power and other nasty efforts! So definitely not for our questioner!

Would this cause because Keyen completely laborious effort, on his page? Maybe you could even take the ALSO for him and him the whole plate here gekeyed as PNGs with transparency are online?
Or, better yet, you film, as proposed, from the flame, and they keyst make him a ready-made mov with transparency!
Oh, it'll do just this: Ask him what he wants for a film s.end, and do it to him! Then his single click effort is only the actual download. The course then he would not his too laborious. If it does, you could film him synonymous drop off at home to load onto their PC and tell him how to play it. No, much better: He is GOING to him before the invited audience of him on the set of his play time! ;-)

Just because the author has made yet with keyframes, which does not mean that he does not want to do, but could only come possibly a simpler solution considered.
Keyframes is to create something like but of simply that I too can only suggest. Just need the right "distortion effect" and it is by default in AfterFX. Then you create a smooth transition movement (a mouse click with the right mouse button on the key frame, then select "Easy Ease"!). You sit back and s.end the first one keyframe. Render then the entire project and you have your result.
I would s.Deiner body of the candle below (where the flame is transparent!) Also create a slight transparency. You can even later in the AfterFX do with a mask and a very soft edge.
