I recently got a Satellite Receiver with PVR function on an external hard drive (USB connection) were purchased. Now I would like the hard drive for video editing is not always the way and her bear. The PC is about 20 meters away from the Receiver. Therefore I can no USB cable. I wonder if there is, of the USB to Network (LAN) transform. Such, I have often seen, but these are mostly s.den PC, so to speak as an external network adapter. Is it the adapter synonymous deliver an IP address without s.einer Drivers only external hard drive is connected?

USB to LAN is not on you because the receiver can not install drivers for USB, there are repeaters which increase the range.

That was my thought. I have decided now the hard drive into a NAS enclosure installed, since the repeater cables are quite expensive and I would need more. Are there reasons for not doing so? Here is an example of such a device: http://www.reichelt.de/?;ACTION=3;LA=3;GROUP=ECA8;GROUPID=3756;ARTICLE=68182;SID=278hjhMKwQARsAAAG5bIk3f73efa8c98391c12c8c33bcd342f0d2

No, because nothing speaks against - this solution is inexpensive and is synonymous with Linux to work well. Unfortunately, the box is not NFS, but the SMB / CIFS-performance Linux is synonymous not so bad ;-)
