I'm with my XH A1, a 10 minute clip cut. So with HDV 1440x1080 25p. If I now want to render it - it did with trying different codecs (MainConcept mp4, avi) and many more. but the quality is still quite poor and anything but beautiful HD.
The file size of the rendered files are also always very small. . Mov is indeed 800MB for 10 minutes but quality is still not really good.
It would reflect on the HD TV and on YouTube.

For home use, you should rather keep the original format, ie with HDV. Render it with the same characteristics of the original, then there will be no visible quality loss.
