It does not matter if the 4:3 recording above and below what is cut off. (Even better in the image) but since then the beam would be on the left and right. My advice: Take the distance of suggestion to try to make a 16x9-Project. You write not know if both of material is DV cameras. But in general: There are some common to the lowest common denominator.
