I have since yesterday, both available and wanted in relation to the video editing (Final Cut Studio 3) provide some guidance in deciding question.
Where it is possible for me so I can gladly respond to specific questions of you.
The two systems: 27 Inch Imac i5, 4 GB Ram, 1TB HDD, 4850 Graphics vs 24 Inch Imac, 2.8Ghz Dual Core CPU, 4 GB Ram, 320GB HDD, ATI Radeon 2600 graphics
What I had to first determine: 1) Volume Fan The i5 is in Comparison to my iMac 24er LOUD, and yes in a way that it has extremely disturbed me. Having a soft cloth was placed under the aluminum base, it has become much better with the vibration. In the 24er this has never been necessary. Get this in the coming days, watch next.
2) A launched concurrently render test (Compressor) for both models proceeded first with a few minutes difference. During the rendering was finished but then the 27er was s.24er while still remaining time of 54min. I thought this was impressive!
3) Due to the higher Resolutionhat the 27er a smaller typeface, which first pushed open unpleasant. Assistance on the Web that you simply should not Resolutionreduzieren came into question. Let's see if I can get used to it. Clearly noticeable is the profit to our favorite applications in FCS3 resulting in more overview.
4) Work in Final Cut Pro. What struck me was the direct performance gain of split screens, filters, etc. So far I had to correct many rendering what is now simply displayed without problems.
These are the experiences of the first few hours with the i5 Imac.
If you have questions of you, or more interesting experiences I extend this story.

My 24er was always silent ... while the 27er i5 but performs relatively loud as I think .... I think after some time under full load it still ok .... may differ even among the devices?
However, I can not remember if my old iMac would become so hot .... hmmm ....
Decision 24 to 27: I think the extra width (not only) to cut the already very nice ......
