I want a grayscale video only partially illuminate something. Is that with VirtualDub? If so, with what filter?
If not to make this work I had to alternatives only (freeware!) Grateful.

If you are a filter on a specific area of a single image but want to apply in all images in the same area, then the VD filter is interesting:
Filter Blender 1.3, together with the mask bitmap

Like this filter, which works synonymous with masks:
Hotspot http://www.neuron2.net/hotspot/hotspot.html
If you want a filter on the frames only in one section of the video (frame x applied to y), this filter VD interesting:
Conditional http://wwwtcs.inf.tu-dresden.de/~dc1/conditional/
The Conditional filter can be used synonymous to start following example filter when unter-/überschreitet as the luma value of the source image (sorry did not Pixels) a selected threshold.
