For me the same thing - I even Premiere Pro 2.0 in the DEMO version tries - no chance.
Believe you have to wait, with the CS3 is released, which is then beautifully expensive, but will run under Vista with security ....
Just as it's called looks like for me to format and XP on it, anyway Vista is extremely unstable for me when it comes to films render / cut it.
