If this were so, one could therefore also the Canopus connecting only via the front jack s.den PC (if you just 6-pole connections s.PC) and not on on the back (6-pole). You are sure that the assigned s.der (is low) voltage? Or maybe s.end but threw an electrostatic discharge (the s.allen interfaces can occur)?
My ADVC-300 with 6/6-poligem Firewire cable works just as well as with 6/4-, 4/6- or 4/4-poligen.
Am, however, assumes that the broad views are the 6-pin and the narrow the 4 pin. That's true, a larger Firewire 400 times 6-pin, a smaller 4-pin.
