Because AVI AVI is not the same. Very simple.
Media Info download, reinwerfen AVI File and reinschreiben here what does MediaInfo (Table View).

Open with Quicktime and as *. mov (movie store)

The detour through the terrible Quicktime you can save synonymous confidently - too much effort for a workaround.
@ Jazz monster
Your video is with Motion JPEG (MJPEG coded) and here perhaps lies the rub.
According to this thread here:
http://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/howto-edit-motion-jpeg-mjpg-in-adobe-or-even-windows-movie-maker-t371510.html
there is no direct support in CS4 for MJPEG. Who would have thought it - because you buy expensive software is shit and the Adobe Support says something like:
I just got off the phone with Adobe support, where they said that PPCS4 was unable to decode s.MJPEG file, and for that matter was unable to input even a Microsoft AVI file. After Assuring me that they are constantly working on product improvements, Adobe tech support's only recommendations were to transcode the file with Adobe Media Encoder CS4 into s.acceptable format (with resulting quality degradation) or purchase and install a 3rd party codec. My advice:
Organize you please FFDSHOW and install it (32 bit version, it should be). Then you go please to the "VfW configuration" and uses MJPEG as well as "different MJPEG" to "libavcodec".
Tell me then please answer, obs works.
