Hi,

I am happy owner of a 7 d and would like to purchase a second cam.

Now I am faced with the choice whether to be a 550D or 500D?

The biggest difference seems indeed to lie with the movie function.
The 550D can only 1920x1080 at 24p?

- To be precise, the 500D at 1080 only 20FPS, which are not standards compliant.
- The 550D can be switched 24.25 and 30FPS
- The 500D has a lower resolution sensor (15MP vs. 18MP).
- The 500D has no microphone input.

There is no reason to buy the 500D, unless you want to save some money.
