Hello,
I stand just before the purchase of a Canon HG20 camcorder.
Since the camcorder has no right, my question now is whether I use for this camcorder synonymous Batteries / chargers of other manufacturers can buy or work only genuine Canon Batteries?

It should not be so many (if at all, which) contractors on the market.
Since Canon just like other companies, a new type of use, where synonymous an accurate residual battery status is visible.
The same problem but Sony User synonymous with their FH Batteries (there slowly scans the forest), with its Panasonic User VBG Batteries and users with their JVC BN VF 8xxer Batteries. Is only a matter of time before there are plenty of external batteries that work, and not about tricks (like Sonyzb some input on the network) have.
There is actually little more against outside - except for the 5 ¬ Batteries of Ebay (if it is then time), Canon is less enthusiastic about them, which can be found in almost every manual (keyword - explosion). With well-known outside Batteries I have Canon cameras have not heard negative things.
When Charger is the case even serene look, except it is again a very low-cost operators.

As already written, I know of no external battery BP 8xxer series. The Charger CG 800 can be original or at Ebay than buy foreign loaders.

We have different external battery with the HG20 tried via Ebay (search for "BP 819"). The differences show the original battery is always in this score:
- After switching on the camera's "Can not communicate with the battery pack. Continue using this battery pack?" This message can be safely wegklicken, this is just a bit annoying.
- The external battery is not loaded on the camera. Thus, an external Charger is urgently needed at Ebay and such bundles (Battery + Charger) p.25 ¬ offered.
- The remaining time display will be the absence of communication with the Battery as a "?" in the battery box of the display.
Despite all the external battery works very well and keep in Comparison to the original BP-819 about as long or maybe a little longer. About a minute before the battery is actually empty, the display shows camera synonymous a message "change battery pack" - so is not synonymous Recording improper canceled.
In practical operation can be said about the above-mentioned drawbacks good to see if the camera is not continuous and one-off and therefore each time the Battery-screen message wegklicken must.

I was still no known foreign company in the eyes came close with a BP 8xx offers. That will soon change synonymous.
