Frage von Pony:Hello,
I have read the HV20 a CVBS input has. Well I thought you so old Hi8 movies abfilmen can. Have only s.Computer Firewire and because of this detour would Hi8 -> HV20 -> QuickTime a more favorable solution.
But do not know how to do it. Is it all about? If yes, how?

Hallihallo pony.
That's it. The quality is not intoxicating, for normal people it is ok, and in any case better than never:
You will need:
1. The computer with a program which DV - material can absorb (probably the same, with which you have the HDV material on your computer aufnimmst)
2. A playback device for your Hi8 tapes (probably old camcorder?) With CVBS output
3. The supplied cable for the AV_jack with red, white (AUDIO) and yellow (VIDEO) RCA connectors
4. A firewire cable
5. dependent of the connections of the Hi8 device:
5a) camcorder has probably synonymous again a special cable for CVBS output. Since then the problem arises that you two times and did not jack (you can not plug into each other). There are two possibilities:
- Either you need to jack adapter Male or
- Both devices have the same 3.5-mm mini-jack AV-Jack (with 3 colored Isolierringen s.Male) and you besorgs a cable 3.5 mm jack to jack with exactly the same plugs (3 colored Isolierringe) s.beiden ends -- I've never compatriots, whether it exists ...
5b) Misc. Player probably has a yellow socket directly for easy video and red and white jacks for audio ...
-----------
Now comes the Verbinderei: Hi8 device with HV20 AV-mini jack connecting (if necessary: the same colors go together),
HV20 firewire output with Computer-Firewire socket connect.
And now:
1. HV20 switch (VCR Play Mode), Hi8 machine in Play mode switch, the computer program.
2. HV20 in the menu: AV-> DV to ON
3. Computer program on recording press
4. s.Hi8 start playback device
Then send Hi8 analog data device s.HV20 which digitizes and sends via firewire s.Computer, which then begins (if the program should do)
Actually, it is not difficult, it is synonymous in the Canon HV20 Manual under "Analog / Digital Conversion".
Another Note: The conversion occurs only in DV standard - but for Hi8 recording is totally insufficient. The computer program must, therefore, the DV - Default know, but probably every video editing program does.
Inquiries can be like (a more detailed specification of your equipment would be helpful)
(If you only have the HV20 on a tape-like, you can connect to the computer away and follow the instructions in the Canon HV20 Manual (Analog Recording)

Hello,
Thanks for the comprehensive instructions. "Play Mode" and "AV> DV" would have been enough. Had thought it must be in camera mode. But it works very well! Somehow it seems that the HV20 is the thing to be. Although everything is somehow hidden, but it does work perfectly.
Many Thanks!
