Hi,
when I connect my Canon XH A1 using Firewire cable s.meinen laptop, is the usual tone that tells me that the laptop has been found that a camera is tuned. But the capture does not work more, not with Premiere Pro 1.5, nor with CS4, with Edius or dvio.exe with the freeware tools.
Edius is still s.nächsten, starts the camera but captured no Picture.
In the meantime, I had borrowed the camera, who knows what the person has adjusted. I myself have already tried various settings, synonymous two different PCs and two different firewire cable.
Any idea? Thank you!

It could be that the person to whom you have lent the camera has used other cartridges than you. miniDV drives do not like it when the tape mark (or cassette) changes. This is s.Bandmaterial, more s.den contained in each tape lubricants. If you mix the tapes, is mixed synonymous the lubricant. And glue so the head drum.
Does playing the cassette otherwise normal? Synonymous If that does not work, maybe a cleaning cartridge would be even a hint. But let the cleaning tape run only very briefly (10 seconds) and then try again.

there is an error message? or in the recording window, the camera "offline"?
I suspect that the cameinstellungen evt by the lender were changed (eg "downscaling hd-> sd .... or similar)
If possible, ask those who had borrowed the cam, which he has um-/verstellt evt ... otherwise the settings menu of the cam sift through if all is ok (firewire cable at removed, else can not be some changes made ... sounds funny, but is so!) ... if everything does not reset to factory settings if necessary

Problems with a dirty head drum are conceivable, but would express so much in the manner described. My suspicion is synonymous rather towards a disguised menu entry in HDV / DV / down-conversion or whatever that is in the XH-A1. Then the camera just does not deliver the signal that the expected Capturesoftwre. Is the Canon a reset button? Perhaps what helps yes.
