Frage von bertl7:Hello everybody! 'm Officially gone since yesterday under the "videographers". Had, after months (years), round-and-forth durchgerungen me, I zuzulegen a mini-DV cam. 'm Only amateur filmmakers and hence my choice was the Einsteigercam Panasonic NV-GS17.
I want to cut my movies mostly s.Computer (HP Notebook - Pavilion ZT3314) and perhaps korriegieren.
Got my cam yesterday received. After I had familiarized with the camcorder, I tried the first recordings to copy to the laptop. And there is already synonymous my problem:
My system: Win XP SP2 (with IEEE1394 Patch - KB885222)
When connecting via Firewire cable (not from the Manufacturer but of Hama: 4pin-4pin), the cam is correctly identified and installed (in the Device Manager is under Imaging devices -> Panasonic DV camcorder).
When you turn the cam (in playback mode) auto-play feature to record video with Microsoft Movie Maker "will appear. This was the first program I tried with the capturing. I come to the video capture wizard. There I select DV-AVI as output format (oddly is below for setting details - Video format: NTSC - although it has been selected under Options PAL) and with a click on "Next" and Choice for the "Entire band begins the camcorder has automatic with the rewind. Then it should come to the "video". But unfortunately, this breaks the program with an error (Unknown error) from (every time, which no preference settings).
2. Program: InterVideo WinDVD Creator 2
Also similar is happening here: As soon as I switch on the main screen to the point 1 - start recording ", the Panasonic DV display device, and although apparently it tries to establish a connection synonymous. Immediately thereafter, the program aborts with an error message.
3. Program: ScenAnalyzerLive 4.0
Here, the camcorder can be controlled more s.meisten. When INPUT is selected, I can with the right buttons, fast-forward, play, etc. Unfortunately, however, the picture on the camcorder monitor, but do not appear in the program. I can click synonymous capture and the camcorder begins to run, but no preview image appears during or after I stopped. (That program can usually synonymous not really quit - only about Task Manager)
4. Program: WinDV
In order for it at all - depends on forever.
As far as an "executive summary" of my agony. What should I do. Can it be s.folgenden things.
- No original Panasonic Firewire cable (but the Cam is recognized and partially addressed synonymous of programs) - possibly the wrong pin configuration (I'm in the forum - Ditigalvideoschnitt - read)?
- All bug (or XP error)?
S.verzweifeln and I really want my career does not depend Filmer-one days after s.den nail. :-)
Thanks for your help

Hello,
Service Pack 2 on Windows XP is known for all sorts of "inconvenience" with Firewire devices. Forget the patch, if it does not help. Instead of completely uninstall SP2 your calculator.
Whether it's intention of Miniweich (= Microsoft was), with ensuring the Service Pack 2 for problems that appear to have the USB interface with camcorders equivalent to? (See

I did exactly) the same problem as bertl7 (same camera, same error with the programs. Perhaps there is now a solution other than uninstall SP2? Have XP with SP2 and want to bundle SP2 runterwerfen synonymous. Not that I would be Microsoft fan, quite the opposite. Only when I need to use XP, it should be just as safe as possible synonymous. And if it (better yet?) ...
Am grateful for any help.

Hello Mark
Thanks for the reply.
I take s.du mean the exchange of MSDV.SYS file with the version of an XP without SP2? I finished off the last few days all my friends, but all have XP with SP2. Is there a file somewhere, perhaps in the network to download? Not really know where else I should herbekommen yet.
thanks

Hello Andrew,
in the annex you will find the two files and
Avc.sys msdv.sys of a PC with WinXP/SP1. I am curious if this works ...

Hello Mark
Thanks for the files. I have them both in the folders
Windowssystem32drivers
Windowssystem32dllcache

( "WindowsLastGoodSystem32Drivers" there is not with me)
everything exactly according to instructions but unfortunately, been unsuccessful. It is as before, the camera is detected by the system
- Device Manager -> Imaging devices -> Panasonic DV camcorder
- Workplace -> Panasonic DV camcorder

This is quite frustrating.
Thanks

Hello Andrew,
I can well sympathize, but unfortunately I can not give you any tip for dealing with the SP1 drivers. I think my calculator free of SP2. ;-)

I must soon be installed on a new PC XP. Since I'm going in all configurations only XP / XP with SP1 / XP with SP2 (sample) dubbing if the works of my camera. If there's work, I have at least an approach as I have to go on.
