option to curtail the composition area of interest under the Composition menu is never available to me. Has anyone any idea what might be the cause?

Hi,
The answer is simple. You have not previously selected area of interest.
Upload your footage click on the area of interest in the Composition window, drag mark, then the area on which you want to have.
Now switch to the menu, the option is available, click after being cut the comp.
