Change the image size in Photoshop to 768 pixels width (set the image size). Make the change proportionately, so there is no distortion.
Then, if the picture is greater than 576 pixels you are cutting off the bottom and / or above a strip of glue or if it is less than 576 pixels background bars (Set the screen size).

The photo image should be 576 pixels high, and after 768 pixels wide.
When processing for DVD is 720x576 zusammengestaucht and then when viewing on the TV again pulled apart at 768x576 ...
