I have my fingers wundgesucht google, but found little news ... There is a comparison of the current MPEG2 encoder generation? So 4-5 years ago was TMPGEnc as the "common type" for high quality and effective MPEG2 encoding, MainConcept has been general as "schrottig" means the class was Primus Cinema Craft. then there is Canopus proCoder, but both as a professional "products out of reach." How is the current status? Are all quality so close together that even in Adobe Premiere CS3 on the MainConcept MPEG2 encoder sets?
If anyone has links or your own experience - more so forth.

Both of ProCoder as synonymous of Cinema Craft were / are stripped down versions with comparable image quality, but less control (and ProCoder Express Cinema Craft Basic).
According to my information (but is no longer synonymous quite up to date), the Canopus ProCoder Express also offer best quality and most versatile (synonymous converted into other formats as MPEG, is making good PAL-NTSC conversions, etc.), but relatively slow. In contrast, Cinema Craft Basic gives only a slightly poorer quality, is limited to MPEG1 / 2 is limited, but works of all encoders with distance s.schnellsten (on current machines in the 1-pass operation is significantly faster than real time).
Whether ProCoder Express yet officially available, I do not know. Cinema Craft Basic, there are still online, synonymous as trial version.

The former, I can confirm the latter does not. The pace is, of course, much of the performance of the CPU-dependent. On my Intel Core-2-Calculator 6400, the 2-pass conversion slightly faster than real time.

My experiences are quite a few years back, and since has been in computer technology a lot of things done. I think I have the first MPEG2 conversions even on a Athlon-800-system. Already there came the Cinema Craft with 1-pass into the realm of real time (but do not quite reach), while the Canopus a multiple of the video duration needed. Now it would be really interesting, both on a modern system against each other out, because so synonymous plays a role in how well specific processor instruction sets, graphics acceleration, multiple cores, etc. of the software exploited. But I would strongly pointed tap that CCE is still significantly faster.
EDIT: I have just the trial of CCE Basic and brought a one-minute Testfile converted. On my Athlon64-3500-system takes the 1-pass CBR for about 30 seconds, in 2-pass VBR about 60 seconds. Would be interesting how quickly it only on a newer dual-core system.
For comparison, I wanted it even more synonymous with the ProCoder Express to try, but unfortunately on strike since my motherboard swap (crashes when I open a source file).

At high bitrates are almost all equally good. But then you can still do a lot! The CCE SP2 provides the best options.
At low rates, the CCE, then the other. I know only the Comparison Apple Compressor, Episode Pro and Cinema Craft SP2 with me.
