I own the camcorder JVC GR DVL 100th As you wrote in your post did was the dubbing of the data via FireWire to the PC no problems. Unfortunately, this is for me is not the case.
I have the camcorder via FireWire s.mein notebook. My Movie Maker program recognizes but no device. What am I doing wrong? How should the setting s.Camcorders be? Would you give me great if this could give some tips.

was unfortunately prevented, so until now the answer
... I have a normal firewire cable (for about 5 euro, not the original cable of JVC) s.die off devices and after booting I could without further settings to access them immediately. Perhaps it is when you s.Kabel ('ve heard that there may be problems because of the quality) or you have by improper handling your connection gehimmelt.
