Yesterday I made a test recording times with the default settings and come out is a video with a Resolutionvon 384 x 288th The quality is slightly blurred. After the description should be a higher Resolutionmöglich.

Now my question as an absolute Beginners: what should I look for when digitize my films, so the films as well be.

Folende hardware available to me:
mobile AMD Athlon XP-M 2500 + (1.86 GHz) and 512 MB of RAM. Unfortunately, no USB 2.0, that will probably be a problem, right?

ideally would be a setting of 720 × 576 pixels at 25 frames per second. A possible codec is called "Microsoft DV-PAL". Supports all the Dazzle DVC120 Digital Video (avi), or the system delivers only MPEG-compressed format?

Good quality, they should have been! MPEG2 is sufficient to view the movies as "good" when on a standard TV to call!

Editing? Not necessarily! Maybe later rausschneiden a few scenes! Otherwise, nothing special!

I looked again ... USB 1 has a data transfer rate of max. 12 Mbps, which is sufficient for transmission of MPEG2 compressed video. Whether the quality, the converter produces this is good, I do not know. The But you could easily find out for yourself: Capture a short sequence (perhaps one minute) on your calculator, and burn to a DVD-Video. Most burning programs have for a project template. If you take this test for a rewritable DVD-RW, you can reuse the disc later.

However, a DVD-Video is not a good basis for the DV editing, since the data on the Picture-/Tonträger highly compressed and there are nested. Better You keep the same MPEG2 files on the hard drive. Meanwhile, some video editing programs deal with MPEG2, but a smooth working with such a compressed video material requires a powerful calculator.

Whether the performance will be enough of a PC that only has USB 1 ports, I may doubt, however. For the video editing is a degree s.notwendigen resources (speed, free space, so simple) is essential.

Hello Marcel,

the recording setting is just right. But why the calculator should downsize the MPEG video? He would have the data but only multiplex (Picture and sound together to nest) and save as new file. At this point the speed of the computer plays synonymous not matter so much more. A slow PC simply need longer to stop, but ultimately delivers the same result.

Unfortunately, I know the software used is not of you, otherwise I would certainly give you a specific tip. So I have only a general remark: Schau doch mal in the project settings to see if there is somewhere a smaller output size ...
