Despite trim 16:9 source material and selected letterboxing?
Frage von stillness: März 2010
Dear experts,
I would be very happy if you give me at the following problem with tips / hints Could any help:
I use a combination of Editstudio 6 (MPEG2 encoder) and DVD-lab PRO2 (authoring) to a DVD (just a movie, create any other extras) to.
Although I have both the MPEG2 compression explicitly selected PAL-DVD set synonymous with 16:9 aspect ratio and letterboxing in authoring the flag is, the video screens to 4:3 with an operational not extreme, but nevertheless represented significant trim.
The source material is in PAL format (DV 16:9, above 720x576). If I MPEG2 file on the PC open the correct aspect ratio of synonymous and there is no trim.
What could be the problem? On any information I would be) very grateful (urgent project completion.
Antwort von Jott:
Television always cut around it on something - at 16:9 to 4:3 we see the program in letterbox, so the trim is only given to the left and right. How strong is exactly, unfortunately scatters of device to device.
This must be taken into account in producing more, plus you can show when cutting the Safe Areas and make sure that nothing important is in the critical region (for example) works.

Hello Lord,
Thanks for the quick reply.
However, I do not understand it completely: The meaning of the letterbox setting yet it is precisely to prevent the trim and, thus ensuring black bars above and below to the correct 16:9 aspect ratio (?)
The representation of behavior you described (trim left and right) but is closer to a pan & scan or automatic mode, right? But I will trim the left and right so as to prevent entirely.
Maybe I understand it conceptually not correct?
Antwort von Jott:
No, the television does not show the complete picture, that's all. Each television curtailed around, but in 16:9 letterbox display appears the problem visually, logically, only the left and right. The same trim to make synonymous with consumer camcorder screen, so you can see the stuff in the picture suddenly cut, which was apparently the Rotate outside the picture window.
With Pan Scan has to do absolutely nothing. On broadcast monitors can switch control between underscan and overscan - complete picture visible and Simulation of home television sets to cut around here. This joke is as old as television itself you have to swivel and / or editing of this behavior of TV sets it into consideration, you lose.

Ok, thank you. Luckily, it only affects script Advertisement.

Look, if your editing software, a framework called the "Title Safe" or something to show. Because it orients the writing positions.
