Apropos Terragen, habs, I have never used, only heard of it. Now I have the 1.6 MB download times and a little inside rumgeklickt, here is a result - on the producer side are much more and much better pictures.
Well, times are always a backdrop to your have wanted ... the free version to 1.280x960 renders everything beyond should with Terragen 2 ($ 99) go.

Schmauchende processors? no, gratis. For private use is nullkommannochwasversion freeware. The original renders perhaps 5 or 8 minutes, no more (1280x960). Was really just zusammengeklickt quickly, with little terrain zurechtgezupft the mouse and off you go ...
Check out the galleries of times in Terragen. As If a warm ums Herz ...
