Frage von gunnii:Hi Folks,
I must just write briefly my experience with the SD300 of the soul.
I've been 3 years now, a satisfied user of the first SD camcorder HDC-SD1. With this camera has already captured many precious hours.
As I was synonymous for a long time, but very interested in the many manual functions of the new SD300, I was even more delighted that I could test the camera this weekend to compare and rent. Unfortunately, already after a short time on the anticipation of the disillusionment.
In a direct image comparison with the "old" SD1, I quickly discovered that the SD300 a considerably smaller Wide Anglehat.
Furthermore, I was disappointed in the so outstanding as described Lowlightqualität almost beyond measure! Again, this is) Schechter chroma noise than the SD1 (considerably more noise and a lousy auto white balance.
For me, several questions were raised to the effect:
- Why the SD300 is often called "reference camcorders" in his
Segment called?
- Why Panasonic has learned the SD1 to SD5 significantly worse & 9 nothing to say?
- How are your experiences with the SD300 in Comparison to other camcorders?
- Which Manufacturer & Model would be a real & better alternative to the SD1 when these times gives up the ghost?
Would I be pleased about a few tips ...

Why is the SD300 is often called "reference camcorders" in his
Segment called? as is done in many "tests" in recent times a focus Riesenballou supposed to be gimmicks such as face recognition, Lächelautomatik, and lubricating finger displays placed in the foreground.
Wide Anglemit starts at 45 mm focal length but it is even misleading lowlighteigenschaften I define differently, but what heck, people buy and are happy
"But everything is so colorful here"

Some may repeatedly referred to the criticisms of SD 300 I: Confirm
- Lack of wide angle
- Turquoise stitch in automatic White Balance
- Lowlight bad behavior
I use the camera as a second camera. The first is a SonyFX 1st The picture quality of Sony (although some may blur) does not match the Panasonic. The Picture of Sonyist more balanced and has a greater range of contrast. Given enough light, one with the Panasonic can make very good shots synonymous. They should however, always operate in manual mode.
My own personal Conclusion is, if you want a good camcorder, you have to pay more than $ 2500, of course, with the proviso that "good" can mean something different for everyone.
For times in between shots and where you can not take the FX, is the SD 300 but quite good. However, a wide-conversion should be equal to reckon with.

I think it's especially bad that the first version, so the SD1 as well (even in low light) and now all subsequent devices no longer reach sufficient. I can only advise everybody to strike, who can get one cheap SD1. Have next week or the possible, a test for Sony HDR-XR520. Which is supposed to do very well in lowlight (because of this new chip Exmor 1 / 2, 8). Let's see what's coming over here. Will you tell ...
