Hello Sean,
in addition, sharpness and contrast are more MUs
important criteria
1. sensitivity to light - otherwise been fängts t see at dusk with a light 'noise'
2. a useful wide-angle setting, or else immediately an additional need-and WW-Converter
3. DV-in for the replay and archiving the edited videos on the camcorder tape.
Camcorders under 500 ¬, which will meet these criteria, but its not easy to find, or you have to set priorities.
Gruss

Hello,
've just bought a camcorder after intensive market researches. My criteria were: very good image quality in daylight and indoors; acceptable in lowlight, true 16:9; absolute manual intervention options for Aperture and Focus via shortcut key (not übes menu), not too small and not too large, wide-angle passable; 3, 5 inch screen, optical stabilizer, or at least an acceptable 2Mpixel electronic, good maneuverability, accessory shoe; stabilizer in 16:9; folding viewfinder with large picture, reasonably good zoom range and zoom button; DV - In absolute must. Good customer service.
I had a MV30i of Canon, with whom I was down to the lowlight satisfied. That is unfortunately gone over Jordan.
Now my choice: the household budget, commanded a price limit to 500 - in special permission to 600, --.
In the Media Markt haptically examined various models and added test IR. Great service!
Bedientechnisch were immediately a number of Canon's sympathetic: MVX200i, MVX40i, MVX350i, MVX20i. The 40s was ruled out due to lack of DVin. The 900 series seemed too primitive.
Tontestaufnahmen very clear picture and gave the decisive factor for the MVX20i, unfortunately, the last Demonstration many as only 399, --.
Panasonic: 300 too expensive, the cheaper models do not have a DV - In. No chance. But the store still have an older 150s for 599, --. Good impression. But: everything manually using just the menu, and no stability in 16:9; excreted.
Sony: In the shop or a HV90er, which was highly recommended for 599, --. Nice 2.7-inch display. But all Manual only via the menu (if any) = annoying, no swivel viewfinder, read this in test results (dangerous!) That the cam in the lowlight is weak. And I had a Hi8 Sonyand had to enjoy the warranty service, which led) to the immediate sale of the camera and the switch to Canon (after 3 months of absence. Sonymüsste be so dramatically better and cheaper than the competition, before I buy it. Added: Built-in battery (with more precise handling) and Dusseliger memory stick for stills (more expensive). Ret.
Back to Canon: When searching the internet I discovered that the MVX25i is yet to get to first on ebay (Dealers) and then at a store where I bought some time (fotoversand24), where I was offered the 25er for 444, - to, 55, - under my limit; disadvantages: (electronic stability but good in the 20s), Lowlight (worked as will be shown), (2.5 inches with 3.5-inch screen can hardly be is available). Excellent manual access options. And, if I had problem with the Canon, I bring them into Willich 45km away in Europe Repair Center, where the camera is super fast repair, collected the best experiences there.
When I look at what is offered for the price, I have been very surprised how much the Prices have fallen. This has also motivated me to take a discontinued model, because if the entry already for the new cams 460, - (MVX460) cost, must have been saved somewhere, or they do not come from Japan ... RGB primary color of the double points at Canon seen on the Testtape!
When the device is there, I will post my experiences!
