If you can wait a bit ... it will come out a Canon 1500D / T1, it is expected for the Christmas season. If an when it comes to video mode, "enhanced 500D" with 1080/30p, so usable 1080p, which is not offered in the 500D so, the sensor should be that of the 450D.
Since they were the successors of the 1000D, it would be priced entry-level model as synonymous, that cost well under ¬ 1000. It is still a rumor, but seems quite probable.

Canon is currently not necessarily more with the sales of the 1000 D content and will soon follow up on something. Canon officially admitted even of employees is (roadshows).
In many stores it is disparaged (as the cheapest plastic bombers may slip!), The 450s (which with the rubberized grip and thumb-rest of kummierten at the moment) much more popular, as are the 500 D.

I had mentioned this in another thread.
Eg for me
-AF with 9 cross-type sensors measuring + 2 linear probes
- Inner casing of a stainless steel chassis, rubberized exterior and well-preserved
- Pentax usual well-designed housing (keys, Out & Logic)
- With 4 AA Batteries & Batteries operated (for L-ion haters and Kältespezalisten)
- Stability in the sensor
- Live video and photo function for the price range
- HDR function in the camera, and many new filter (cross-development), many are converted Pentaxkameras mini Photoshop
- At least 100,000 trips (I had modified a dead Canon 450 of a customer with 30,000 exposures)
- 1 / 6000 shutter
- 4.7 frames / sec (but unfortunately only 17 images for JPEG)
Nevertheless, as usual, a Canon 500D or a Nikon D 5000 better off, but that is because 86% of the users of vornerein go to one of the two companies.

How are your current experiences with Pentax when it comes to processing and robustness? I still remember with horror s.frühere years, as of our five-SLRs Pentax almost two to three were constantly under repair.
