Transferring a ribbon on the PC is a copying process. That will not be erased. If you want to be sure, then "lock" the tape (slide switch below s.der cassette - see instructions).
The firewire cable is the right choice for the transfer to the PC. Thus the maximum you will Quallität transferred.
You will be importing (capturing) of the film with the editing program to make (that is with you: Movie Maker). There is no "movie file" in the Explorer, which you only need to copy. The reading lasts exactly as long as the input material at normal speed s.Television view.
The images are s.PC possibly kammartige "disturbances" s.senkrechten edges when the picture moves. This is systenmbedingt normal (interlaced images when the TV / video vs. Non-interlaced PC - please google / search) and are s.TV not be seen.
The Movie Maker is a free Windows-dish suitable for simple videos to cut and the first rudimentary experience. If you favor s.der post you will ensure you to a higher value and "kostenbehaftetes" program to upgrade. However, in my opinion for Video Editing XP is still the safe option than Vista. That will be but certainly in the next few months to change.
