There is no better or worse. At the 6-pin will not transfer a power supply.
PC Connection desktop usually have 6-pin. Videocam mostly 4-pin.
My notebook is synonymous only 4-pin.

It is best to take a high quality Firewire cable, not the cheapest of cheap. Because of the fit of the times. ;-)
