I want to know what I do with the film material must be that I have of my cam (sony dcr-trv14e) transferred to my PC. The data rate is where the film material is too large and thus synonymous the size in GB. I want to compress the material that is to archive it. However, it should still have a sufficient quality to later create a DVD from it.
For example: I'm watching a movie the ...
- 33 min - 7.18 GB big - With 25 images / s - 28 815 kbit / s (data rate) - 30 351 kbit / s (total bit rate)

If you is 7 GB for 33 minutes too much, then I do not know how to help you yet. On a single 500 GB drive would then draufpassen yes about 35 hours, where is the problem?

As I wrote: You do not have a problem, so there's no question synonymous synonymous and thus no answer. How is one to a file that is already so small, without loss of quality to make even smaller?

The problem is with x264.
From about 6000kBit / s delivers a very good, and already s.7500kBit / s from a knotless Picture. (In 1080 no less material ...)
However, the approach requires some training and it is not for Beginners.

In principle, I must give Matthias rules: to archive with a view to later processing, it is s.besten always keep the original material as it comes of the camera. With DV (HDV 1080i), the times are now around 13GB per hour, which should not be a problem in today's prices really hard. If you have the data but still small and have you understand by finishing more or less just to burn a video DVD, a filing would be synonymous in the MPEG2 format in question - that format that you need later for a DVD anyway. The original quality you would then get even still on the tapes, which you will hopefully pick up anyway.
