for a 6-month trek, I'm looking for a camcorder.

The weight / power / price class Ex1 still exists alongside the Panasonic HMC151 (AVCHD) and Panasonic HVX200 and HPX171 have s.Hut latter being much more with pixel shift in the hmc, I do not know.

One EX1 is great, but for your application may be a little oversized.
