Hi Boardies!
Sooo I bought a laptop SonyVaio with so-called i-link (firewire connection??) HDMI connection and of course USB. Momental I have the SD 300 s.laptop via USB, but I always have the main power cable to connect the camcorder :-( How look when I buy a firewire cable, do I still put the camcorder in, or can I stream over Battery run?
Perhaps I can explain the benefits of a synonymous / disadvantage of firewire over USB and wofor is HDMI?

Regardless of whether the camera has FireWire or not: if it requires a power supply to be connected - it must be tuned and the Camera with versogen electricity.

1st No, the HDC-SD300 does
not have a FireWire input or output.
2nd You can even copy the data without a power cord s.Camcorders - the camcorder says he is running on battery, but you can continue anyway (at least on my firmware so).
3rd As mentioned, go through a card reader.

Principle has Firewire (= iLink = IEEE1394 = DV), although some advantages over USB (devices do not need special drivers, higher transmission speed and other things), but in AVCHD cameras like yours is pure theory, because they do not have Firewire sockets and they need not synonymous. Kleiner Tip: Throw a look in the manual of the camera, because there are existing connections explains determined.

Achso, HDMI (High Definition Media Interface) is there to transfer the video signal (not the files) to a flat screen or a beamer. You can, of course, synonymous to record this signal, but that does not necessarily sense now, but more work. Sound is also transmitted synonymous.
