why that is actually that you put pictures as equal with hdv hd? I mean, there are almost 400 lines, and the pictures are stretched even before the issue of (1.3) of its length. And how have the manufacturer is thinking that. wiso set to 1980x1080 and they know that they could take time, only 1440x1080.

Because HDV is directly derived from the D-VHS system in 1998, but using the then existing DV tapes

Even HDCAM - still like to put in the high-end sector - stores "only" with 1440x1080, as DVCProHD. Everything has not deterred anyone to produce great films with it.
The idea to record anamorphic - ie with a horizontal compression that will be rectified when playing back, is originally from the Movies and was then synonymous included in the television world. Each DVD is 16:9 anamorphic, television is anamorphic, almost everyday. This has advantages in storage and transmission, and the beauty of it: you can not see, at least not without technical eagle eyes in the assessment of a still image.
