I buy myself the day the HC-1 and ask myself whether I can play in HDV recorded material in my old camera (in SD resolution). Said no one at Saturn, who says the media market "clear" I could not play but.

HDV is an MPEG-2 compression. DV (I am assuming that your old camera is a DV camera) is a proprietary encoding that is not compatible with MPEG.
