I would like to convert to a digital format.
But my camera is playing this off any longer.
Has anyone a still-functioning recorder, which one could possibly borrow, possibly in Hamburg?
Or another idea?

On E-Bay you'll find plenty of older Hi8 camcorder that would have to suffice for all.

The advantage is that if you one Digital8 camcorder with analog Video8 and Hi8 tapes to play, they will be digitized while playing immediately and you can use the FireWire output of your camcorder (Video8 and Hi8 have sowas do not use) to your tapes to digital transferred to the PC.
If you would use only a Hi-8 player, you'd have the analog signal that receives the camera yet to digitize external. Many even tend to like to use any video grabber for it, but that does not just deliver optimal results.
