My solution: The tapes with the Dazzle DVC 100 convert.
My question: Is this device to recommend?

which outputs the video then? if only s-video or cinch, then you have much cheaper videograbber any other party, the encoding is done on the software anyway and since then so you can adjust how you need it. it works both with the windows movie maker (only in emergency, only wmv), magix video deluxe, Ulead VideoStudio, Adobe Premiere, etc. ... if it has firewire, is the better transmission.
