Why not? Who designed this a highly sought-after firmware can currently make a lot of money with it. And exposure for a small time theater synonymous'd programmed.

Because it is legally in a gray area? A custom firmware can not contain any schonmal original Code of Canon, as they hold a copyright on it. If there is a patch and aushebelt these security mechanisms, then the whole IMO is illegal.

That would stop it but none of them do anyway, right? The legal issues are of secondary importance but in the end, if there is a principled solution. What is possible is made - as far as I have learned of the people who make Mac OS X on standard PCs running.

That is no longer a problem these days eh!
Da gibts enough soft / hardware to make it easy for ..
However, a Mark2 is to hook a completely different topic!

I can see exactly the same way. I think many try hacking the firmware and only a few will succeed. This hacker gains IMHO rightly received much attention simply because he has found an access code and a way.

Even if the whole thing would be legally a gray area: The sale of a hacked firmware over the Internet with a. To Domain is surely no problem. If 10,000 users to pay $ 50 each, that would be a lot of effort. (; Unfortunately I can not hack, otherwise smooth ichs'd try ...:)

It was not about the feasibility, but to sell about a custom firmware and make it a pile of coal.

I have no doubt that it is possible to modify the firmware accordingly, but the Comparison with OS X on Intel hardware is lagging a bit. We are talking here not about the 5D Firmware Compact Take a photo on my walk to get to.
