Hello!
have a JVC GR DVL357 rented from the miners.
connect with the PC via FireWire nothing happens (device detection does not start at all) The interface on the PC is turned on. When connecting with Laptop same result.
The camera was switched on when connecting.
someone had the same problem?

Perhaps this could be a problem with the cable or the Firewire port on the camcorder is really broken. Look here:

I read in the Bedienugsanleitug that Camera and PC should be turned off when connecting, I have not done. But I can hardly imagine that is why the interface can fry ...

Firewire is suited to that it is possible (devices during the operation or combine) separated. Only some camcorders are only recognized by the calculator when they are already switched on, while booting up the Calculator. Tests but the times.
