Hello everybody!
I can not decide whether I SonyHDR-SR12E (5 lux) or SonyHDR-SR8 (2 Lux) buy.
What is important is for me the film "quality" in low light conditions. Garden party lights, Christmas lights, ...
Do I have to forgo the features of the SR12, the better "night" on-camera, or is the difference of these 3 Lux, in practice, not significantly anyway? How can I imagine the difference?

I think the SR12 looks even when 2Lux still better than the SR8 in this light.
The SR12 is a (currently) the most powerful camera light on the consumer market and the SR8 synonymous in some other score (of the features you mentioned). :)
In addition, there is a normal room illumination at 500 to 750Lux even a single street lamp at a distance has 10Lux.
2 Lux are absolute Lowlight - usually filming because you no longer:)

If a lot in low light filming, should the camera have a manageable gain. The signal amplification is indeed one in the sham of a candle all the faces of loved ones around the table around, but with the (Gain -) side effect that we think that nuclear fallout would soon exterminieren.
With my old VX 2000, I this situation, and I have the gain turned off completely. Result: The faces somehow still floating in the darkness, police records as worthless. But: The box menthol cigarettes under the candle is actually green. Strong light means not just that one exception of the flame and the first centimeters of the candle still looks anything but synonymous, that the colors still halfway naturally reproduced.
If, however, the gain off, you get the (non-racially-intentioned, old cameraman, saying:) Negro struggle in the tunnel.
Lanterns, light chains s.Christbaum that everything is not sufficient for a reasonable exposure to make. To view a particular camera is not as strong light.

Without light, everything is indeed in vain. The one or other light source to make the Schummerstimmung synonymous not broken. More important than the absolute brightness is the most uniform illumination. Nothing is worse than underexposed (pardon the pun) and outshines Fressen s.Tisch.

Kusi @ - this is a dangerous topic, as many companies as cheat.
The company should specify: 2 lux at 1/50sek, Aperture f 1.8 and 18 dB gain. No they do not, the 0-2 Lux relate on some models at 1 / 2 sec, and maximum open aperture gain.
The 5 Lux SR 11 & 12 refer to 1 / 25 sec, open Aperture and Gain max. So synonymous a little "cheated", because with a shutter of 1 / 25 sec may not always work (not optimal motion representation - Geruckel).
Here's the Lux values of the brand new Canon HDV XL H1s & a
Minimum illumination:
6 Lux at 1 / 50 sec with 18 dB Gain, f 1.6)
0.4 lux at 1 / 3 sec with 18 dB Gain, f 1.6)
There you can see already that it is Quark. The XL H 1s + a good cost ¬ 5000 and are good Prosumerkameras.
The company my halt at the correct exposure setting (ie, 1 / 25 sec, Aperture open and max gain) can be with an SR 11 for 5 lux purely theoretically still filming.
In total, we can say that the consumer cameras (as well it has been said here) at 2 or 8 Lux eh could not film - a black picture is the result - many are already at 20 lux "dead."

I always thought Slashcam is the "know-Forum" - the saying goes, at least in some other video forums ...
I just wanted to demonstrate that the mere lux (light) of laundry is completely nonsense. The new Canon XL H 1 S will cost almost 9000 ¬ (RRP) and is according to the figures Lux (6 lux) ever worse than many consumer models - and we should have come into the mystery ....
