Only the cartridge size. The tape and everything else is identical.
All consumer camcorders to take on miniDV tapes. You'll hardly synonymous a normal DV tape in the electric wholesale markets. Advantage of the large packs: Volume longer term.

DV is even as a generic term for digital video. This can be anything, 2k, HD, SD, DV, HDV, Flash Video, H.264 or AVCHD. Whenever video is available digitally and processed.
But DV is synonymous for a video - Standard: "Digital Video". DV stores with an intra-frame DCT-based compression (good quality), either digital PAL (720x576) or digital NTSC (720x480). Per hour DV needs about 13 GB. This is a standard for DV video format, which is always with the same compression and the same quality stores. But there are different procedures, how DV can record. For example, on MiniDV cassettes, on DVCAM cassettes (there are large or small with different maturities), DVCPRO cassettes (but with a slightly modified sampling) or synonymous to hard disks as a file (via PC or HDD recorder). There are large shoulder cameras, of course, a better picture than small consumer cameras manage, but all with the same data-store procedure. What's in the SonyPD 150/170 from s.der DVCAM Camera is right but of the size would be only a DV tape purely fit what's going on? No other means DVCAM cassette size, but only for a limited data standard. DVCAM-enabled cameras can vary according to their design standard - DV tapes, MiniDV tapes or even the XDCAM Professional Disc System to use as a storage media - the two PD150/170 take MiniDV.
