XP with SP1 and is exactly my case. So USB Drivers installed, and then USB cable of Cam s.PC then ran erscheind "New Video Device" and found the hardware manager to install the driver. Now I have tried every setting with the XP drivers are the picks, Unfortunately, the error
File usbvideo.sys "does not exist.
On the web I found the patch on usbvideo.sys of Microsoft, unfortunately, with prerequisite SP2 (which is indeed not installed in me).

Sorry, but maybe I'm too stupid for that. From the links I could only take out that one should forget the USB port and transfer via firewire should ...
Now, the NV-GS280 has an extra, this interface and the USB cable was a standard feature, unfortunately, no DV cable with Firewire.
Has anyone of you, the NV-GS280 connected via USB?
The funny thing is that the NV-GS280 is not even recognized as Panasonic, so the Drivers of Panasonic without SP2, then, is useless ...
In other words, according to the contributions so I should give up the USB port and I get the DV-Firewire cable as I see it ...

That surprised me, however, always synonymous - not just at Panasonic! Questions like these so just dive in because the people do not expect that the Manufacturer renounced a major cable and mitliefert instead an unimportant.

The Drivers of Panasonic is synonymous WITH Service Pack 2 useless!
.. purely because he does nothing. If you connected the cam via USB, the new hardware called "DVC recognized" and Windows will start the driver installation dialog ..
The hotfix has brought ubsvideo.sys synonymous nothing ..

Just a pity that with the Panasonic NV-GS280 explicitly advertises with USB!
Now I have my DV-Firewire cable (not original) brought to the dealer, it cost me only $ 10.
Before I get my movies dub occurs, the next question, I want to use the enclosed software, or rather a Panansonic as
Magix Video Deluxe 2006/2007 Pros which I of course have to buy yet because I have read in various magazines, it is the same difference in quality when dubbing (field order, etc. ..)
Ask this question once under "Software" purely
Antwort von VolkerS:
When dubbing, there is no loss of quality because the data is indeed not altered in any way but only "copied". What software is used for this is of erstmal no preference () from quality point of view. For the beginning of the times tuts as supplied XP Movie Maker. Almost every editing program brings synonymous with a capture function.
